Meet Kierra

To the rest of the world, Kierra goes by her first name. On February 27, 2010, Kierra was renamed Big Sister "Capacity" by Alpha Omega Co-ed Christian Fraternity, Inc. She is definitely a woman who operates in many capacities. She is currently a high school English teacher in Detroit and will be pursuing her Master's Degree in Post-Secondary Education Relations at Oakland University. Kierra is active in ministry as a worship leader, song-writer, intercessor, and author.

A proud native of Detroit, Kierra was educated in the Detroit Public School system where she graduated from the esteemed Cass Technical High School. While at Cass, she followed the Human Services curriculum having aspirations of becoming a teacher and helping people to become their "best selves". Cass Tech also offered her a platform to teach students about the love of Christ. In 2005, Kierra was voted President of Cass Christian Fellowship. This position helped Kierra to build her confidence as a public speaker and biblical scholar.

As a youth, Kierra was always drawn to women's ministry. In Alpha Omega, she served as women's vice president at Grand Valley State University, teaching Bible studies geared towards college-aged women. Kierra also spent time working at a youth residential program where she used her many gifts to show the love of Christ to teenage girls. She has spoken at conferences and seminars with the goal of empowering women to live a lifestyle that is pleasing to God. Kierra has also been featured on The Word Network's 910Am Superstation radio shows "Live with David Bullock" and "Life in the D" with Judge Vonda Evans and Councilwoman Mary Sheffield, and the "Greg Davis Show". Her approach to ministry is that it should meet people where they are by being both spiritual and relevant.

Above all, Kierra maintains that her first ministry is her daughter, Kasey. "Through the turmoil  and chaos that I faced in my life," she explains, "came this beautiful blessing  that stole my heart. Everything that I do is to honor God, and to also be the best mother that I  can be for her." In addition to rolling around with Kasey and cleaning her messes, Kierra enjoys reading, karaoke, writing poetry, and working out.

"Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised."
